Kidney Transplant

Kidney Transplant or Renal Transplant is the transfer of a person’s healthy kidney (donor) into another person (patient) with a malfunctioned or failed kidney or both sides. As a kidney’s main role is to filter body wastes from blood and discharge them out of the body through the process of urination. The malfunction, loss, and/or disease of a kidney or both lead to an end-stage chronic kidney failure or kidney failure, and by that stage it is the most important reason to conduct a kidney treatment process, and kidney transplant is best among those treatments like hemodialysis whether home or in-center one and peritoneal dialysis which usually need to be performed for eternity. At BPK9 we manage a kidney transplant procedure over a living donor to the patient.

Kidney Transplantation Regulations:

Here are some basic information regarding our BPK9 Kidney Transplantation

  • The donor has to be an immediate family member of the patient (father, mother, siblings, son & daughter). If the immediate family members are not available, uncle, aunt, nephew, niece or first cousins are also acceptable.
  • The patient should bring all the documents to prove that the donor is blood relative, such as declaration of true relation in court for both patient and donor (total two documents) and notaries’ translation of those documents.
  • A household registration of both patient and donor. This document is to be able to trace the family tree.
  • The pre-operative investigations such as cross-matching and HLA typing for both patient and donor would cost approximately 100,000 THB.
  • The cost of surgery for both donor and patient is around 1,200,000 - 1,500,000 THB.
  • The patient will need to stay at the hospital for approximately 2 weeks and another 3-4 weeks for weekly post-surgery follow up.
  • The donor will need to stay in hospital for about 4-7 days and he/she can go home one week after the surgery when the stitches are off.
